In case if anyone is wondering why this game is a cross-over I think I can explain it.
Originally, the game was called Mortal Kombat 8, it also was meant to be more of a dark and scary story and almost every kombatants dies except for scorpion and sub-zero. At that time they (Midway) was wanting to make new characters by scratch, but the idea was later cancelled to make MK VS DC. IF u want to know what happened to the idea, it could be in the still in development Mortal Kombat 9.
