Hello I am trying to understand the garyfong diffuser.
All we know that the size of the light will create soft or hard light.
So how is that a garyfong diffuser could create soft light if it is so small?
Thank you
Regards
Erwin

Is that Chick Corea and Return To Forever or Lee Ritenour Music in the background.. Nice.

Canon Mark III is going to have infinitely variable power in the next release flash, so it will become moot. For now, there is nothing preventing you from using a neutral density filter designed for flashes (which a variety of manufacturers make)

@denebuff Wish I could help. That video has been up for 2 years and no one has reported a problem. One viewer even commented about liking the music. I've just tested it on my iMac and PC. If I can find the original files, I try uploading to blip or vimeo. I won't have time, until tomorrow, but if I can do it, I'll paste the URL, here.

Took several shot at ISO 800, f3.5 @ 1/30 of a second. All were dark and under exposed. These were taken in my home office with only artificial light available. The auto settings ISO 100, f3.5 and 1/60 of a second. The flaps were wide open on both shots. The auto shots were well espoused but I had a dark shadow behind the subject, frankly I get a much better results just taking the WT off and tilting the 580 lens slightly and using the built in white card that comes with the lens.

On the correctly exposed image, that you emailed to me, the metering was set to pattern. On the dark image, the metering was set to centerweighted averaging. It looks like your camera metered only for the skin tones and not the black shirt or darker background. That's why the TTL threw off the flash.
