transcends pop/rock/pychedelia and becomes something other.truly free flowing music, everyone in the band connected and flowing. All being lead by Morrison who waits and goes when he feels the time is right not when he feels he's pushed it too far so has to go.
Brilliant. The Doors firing on all cylinders.
Possibly the greatest band ever in my humble opinion.
nice one mate.

Wow! What a treat! Ed Sullivan wouldn't touch this song in a live performance. Thanks Canada!

Also, the nails thing is just the classical way to play guitar. Traditionally you would grow your nails out and keep them shaped and manicured in order to pluck the strings. Easy way to spot a classically trained axeman is by checking their nails, ideally one hand would have long nails while the other would be short so it doesn't interfere with the frets.

3:43, they just don't play drums like that anymore. Inventive to say the least.

Is this not the first Doors TV performance?
The man introducing the Doors is Noel Harrison, son of Rex Harrison (co-star of My Fair Lady and the original Dr. Dolittle). Noel was the co-star of the Girl from U.N.C.L.E. TV show and had a pop hit with his cover version of Leonard Cohen's song Suzanne.

Thank you for an informative and intelligent post.
I just knew I should know that guy's face, but couldn't recall from where. Ahhh..the girl from UNCLE was hilarious in it's absurdity!
