An excellent machine but unfortunately no longer available. Checkout: http://www.bhgardeners.co.uk/Products/Detail/?ProductCode=60001 for the Mantis 4-stroke.

  • yes! exactly right. we sell them but we also are contractors and this machine saves so much time digging over larger beds borders etc and when asked will aso do the impossible!! Cracking tool!!

  • it IS still available and it's tilling soil that has already been loosened - crap demo

  • yes the video not meant to be anything special, the soil was soft it is a raised bed and deep BUT we use a newer machine now which is a 4 stroke replacing the two stroke and we use it on a complete variety of ground from stoney to clay. i would not try digging over fresh turf/sod, that is nots its purpose in life-use a turf cutter first!

  • does it take off like that when you start it? seems like it would have some kind of clutch to keep that from happening

  • Just me opening up the throttle,we broke off the slow running screw on the carb body so to get this machine running you have to give it some throttle. We have used this machine on our contracting van for some time and it has been well used/abused but it is still going and save massive time weeding large areas.Good liuttle machines but the 4 stoke Honda is a better tool

  • Thank you .the video was made by my young son.

I am always being asked what exactly this or that machine will dig. This machine is light. For its size and weight it is amazing and will dig what many larger machines will not. On Hard ground a conventional large cultivator with bolen type tines will bounce all over the place. This machine CAN be made to dig hard ground.BUT you need to match a machine to a job. Really hard ground Hire a Powerful rotavator for first initial dig. Then the Mantis!

  • I've been a gardener for almost 40 years and I've used all sorts of tillers from a Troy Built Horse to a Merry 5HP to an English spading fork. The Mantis is the best little tool I've ever had. Dig, rip and tear is it's middle name. Wish I had bought one years ago.

  • @v632 his soil was very loose it was in a raised bed

  • his soil maybe been tilled before,,thats why it seem like its that powerful..

  • is it good for sod and compact soil?
