@EdwardRommel In fact there were unless two other attempts to ensure the Imperial Family out of Russia. One was made by the Kaiser, but was refused by the Tsar himself. The other, perhaps the less known, was made by King Alfonso XIII of Spain. He himself continued to negotiate with the soviet goverment untill the mid '20s, several years after the assasination of the whole family, without recieving concrete answers from Moscow.

The Czars mother was from Denmark...so why couldn't he go to Denmark? Denmark was neutral in WW1 and very close to Russia.
What about Norway?....Portugal?...Spain?
The Czar may have been viewed as the Shah of Iran was viewed...as a liability.
He was viewed as a tyrant in the USA...and most Americans welcomed his abdication.
But you can't really place all the blame on the British for not taking him in...apparently no one wanted to take him in...or maybe it was too difficult to arrange

Or India or Australia or New Zealand - Britain ruled dozens of countrires at that point in history.
There was obviously too much inbreeding in the royal families back then.

The Tsar was inept? Sounds like George 5 was equally inept. Regardless of the situation, who can respect a man who turns his back on his "best friend', cousin and allie in war? He could have hidden them away in Scotland or South Africa somewhere until better plans could have been made. What a creep. No wonder his messed up son, Edward 8 (Mr. Wallace Simpson) hated him.
