he combines 'eva' (a book title) and his own handwritten words ('te faire foutre') into a phrase phonetically identical to 'ET va te faire foutre' ('and go fuck yourself.') the translator, in turn, confuses things a bit by attempting to create a separate play on words in english. the meaning still comes across, but it's less funny and more 'sanitized'. humorous phrases are notoriously difficult to transfer from one language to another, especially when using that technique...

The subtitles just aren't funny enough here. "Va te faire foutre" means "Go fuck yourself." I love that he invents the *entire* insult from two letters.
