Tapping into Female Talent: Preparing for a New Growth Cycle
BBC World News hosts this debate in partnership with the World Economic Forum

Women make up half of the human capital available to any economy. Thus, promoting gender parity is more than good practice, it is also good business.

Over the next decade, as the combined impact of growing gender equality and the "power of the purse" changes consumption patterns across India, how can Indian businesses level the playing field today to more effectively capitalize on female talent and the female consumer?

Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Renault Nissan, France
Chanda Kochhar, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, ICICI Bank, India
Indra Nooyi, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, PepsiCo, USA
Melanne S. Verveer, US Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women's Issues

  • indians are give all oppurtunity to become anything they want in the eyes of their parents and so are men. even indian muslims have started to be relaxed on female rights. well india is india and super cool country than western assoles lol.

  • Suhel seth really made insightful comments

  • @narenreddy7 true dude... true to the epicenter

  • In India, most of the companies...are not following 8 hours work. Men used to stay for longer hours with efficiency being lesser. But the company need them to work after hours. This happens in manufacturing. Whereas with women, it is not feasible in manufacturing for work for later hours.

Shifts are now common in IT and 8 hours work is common. But, in manufacturing it is in infancy. To implement gender equality in manufacturing, Government should strict the policy on 8 hours work in INDIA.

  • Interesting Video

  • The major factor impeding progress of women is religion. All god are men.

  • wow, sexy.

  • Suhail Seth is right, equating gender equality with women in work force is stupid

  • salute to all Indian woman leader who are trying to uplift the situation of woman.

  • This is a very interesting debate on the subject of women in the workforce. I loved Suhel Seth as devil's advocate but he didn't change my opinion that ensuring diversity in the workforce is one of the most important issues for business moving forwards.
