With aikido it is like with any other martial art:
One punch in the face and you lose one Dan.
And to be more precise:
One overhand right by Dan Henderson and you lose ALL DANs you ever had.

@TryTheRedPill yes, demos with seagal tend to look ridiculous since he's a 6,4 ft man throwing around a bunch of small asians. but if you watch some gozo shioda demos (he's around 5 feet i belive) you can see him dominate MUCH bigger guys, whom are not only bigger, but have fighting backgrounds and much prestige in their respective martial arts. he even has a book where he tells about some of his life and youth, its very interesting to read.

@TryTheRedPill I used to ask myself the same thing about Segal (I used to practice aikido).
Then, he came to Brazil to train Anderson Silva, one of the best MMA fighters here, for a specific match against a strong figthter, Vitor Belfort.
The training videos are on youtube and gives a nice "real life" impression on Seagal's skill
Anderson KO'ed Belfort with an extraordinarily brutal frontal kick. He credited Segal for teaching this specific move : /watch?v=v8aFt2KyOs4

ok go aheadand say your supperior but aikido is a class act takes years to master and is a challenge .i got a forty cal for some mma guy who wants to kill me.
mma guys are bad ass no doubt but your art came from this art and other arts. budo is the oldest hand to hand out of japan aikido comes from budo and other disaplines..
i think its better to respect all other arts and people i couild learn even from ti chi.so grow up a little and you even be better than you are now mr expert mma bad ass
