NBC News coverage of the fall of the Berlin Wall hosted by Tom Brokaw at the Brandenburg Gate, November 1989. Part 2 of 2. The exact date of this report is most likely November 10, 1989.
Like I said in the first part of this and I think it's worth repeating, I was a senior in high school when this happened and I remember it well. I just hope now nothing like this ever happens again. I hope there is a paint like or a marker or something there now to remind them of where it was and what happened. I know they say they will never forget, but time passes and memories fade. This is something that should never EVER be forgotten!
@ChihuahuaboyDH I find it ironic you are decrying Barack Obama, a corporatist centrist as much as pretty much any other US President of the last few decades, and praising an ACTUAL COMMUNIST.
I was 12 years old and had just gone to Berlin in July of 1989 to visit my sister who lived in West Berlin. I remember my father waking me up so I could watch what was happening and talk to my sister I was so excited I could not stop jumping around.

@Tangerinez77 I was 9, I watched this live too but I really had no understanding of what was going on. What does a 9 year old in the U.S. know about Germany and the cold war? All I knew was that my parents thought it was important. Now of course I know that it was one of the defining moments in history in my lifetime, possibly the biggest world shaking event until 9/11.
21 people like & believe in freedom. Glad to see there are 0 Barack Obama supporters who have voted on this video thus far!
How I wished I were in a newly unified Berlin that night!
This all happened thanks to two great men: Ronald Reagan & Mikhail Gorbachev. For your act of courage & standing up for what's right, fair & just, I salute you both (including the millions of Germans who shaped a huge part to bring both East & West Germany together some ten months after the Berlin Wall fell)!
I was 12 years old. I watched this..I mostly remember young people picking away at the wall and dancing..and the wall had so much grafetti on it..I knew it was very important & meant freedom. I also remember some ppl keeping a piece of the wall..
@Guitarman5150 Parts of the wall are preserved...

I had to watch history. It felt wonderful to view this. I was only 3 at the time. Now it is clear to me why America was so happy for the Germans!
