  • I was wrong, the Shelby is a mid 12 second car. MM&FF put a pair of drag radials, an axle back exhaust, and a computer flash and got it into the 11s. Put blower pulley, gears, a full exhaust, and slicks, and you got a low 11, high 10 second car. Can't say that about the Trans Am.

  • If i had about $45,000 to spend i might think about a gt500, but i had about $8,500, and ended up with something thats faster than a stock gt500. I could alwyas throw a blower, gears and some slicks on, it would probably be hitting low 10's, high nines.

  • Shelby's driver sucks. That is a low 12 second car. It would spank the Trans Am.

  • The Trans Am driver sucks. It runs high 11's. The best time that Car And Driver got out of a stock 07 Shelby Gt500 was a 12.9.

  • @jesset1234 the smoking tire driver matt ferrara or whoever ran a mid 12. and he wasnt driving it that well.'gt500s are mid 12 cars. stock ta's can run the highest 12....mines in the high 11's and im about to get a procharger and change it to high to mid 10's once my suspension will support it.

  • @jesset1234 at sea level the fastest production Trans Am was the ws6 and it did 13.4 second quarter mile time. Rated top stock times. A 2007 Shelby gt500 convertible (tested by road and track) has hit 12.9 on 1/4 mile stock so I imagine the coupe would be a little quicker. All factory times are rated at sea level. So take into effect this track may be fairly high in altitude and that affects times and different engines react and run different at higher altitudes. Sorry 4 draggin old comment out.

  • A GT500 is capable of high 11s with good tires and a driver who knows what they are doing.

  • a gt 500 cost like about on the 40,000 but if you have 30,000 you would rather get a 2002 trans am that cost about 15,000 with very low miles and put 10,000 in the car and u save like save 15,000 and you have a better faster car and 15,000 in the bank... ooo and trans am got better traction on taking off then a GT 500

  • A LS1 TA with sticky tires and a torque converter can run 13.00 at a cost less than 10K. TA is the real drag car. GT500 is more show less go. case closed

  • trans am is a fast car and so is the GT500 but the only reason that the GT500 stays a little behind is because the GT500 has so much power on the rear wheels which will make it to just keep on spinning out trying to catch traction while the Trans Am might catch traction faster and the drivers do count alot.
