A substantial part of US GDP is just borrowed money. It's fake. It won't become a third world country but when the dollar is replaced as the reserve currency the standards of living will decline a lot. This will cause political chaos and prevent any growth for many years. During this period the Asian countries will continue to grow and, yeah, basically laugh at America.
