I grew up with a mother who was a literal hippy. In our nomadic lives, with all the people coming and going, the communes, the partys, the victorian homes with walls painted purple and yello, one thing always rang through, her involvement in the new kind of church we went to and their precise reproductions of Godspell. When ever I hear the songs or see the film, I literally cry for those days of sweetness and innocence. Thank you for mixing my today with my yesterday.

This is the sweetest jesus! I just love this musical so much! There is more meaning in this show than in the Vatican rooms!

It's a real shame about half the cast of Godspell is deceased. RIP.

I LOVED IT! and I stumbled across it watching song by Godspell.. I love that movie.. and I'm not Religious. I have my Faith, my hopes, my dreams and my wishes.. I am a spiritual peace maker. Thank you for this, I love that song as a child

What in the world is wrong with "coming off as religious"???
my gosh... our whole existence is devoted to bridging the gap to the Divine... why do you apologize for that?
I don't know this song, but it's wonderful...
God bless you, you silly silly person....

Have you seen the whole movie? Godspel mens somehow enchanted by God, or captivated by God. I am not sure how to say in English.(I am brazilian) But I do pray that you keep on working for eternity, as you post small portions of the KINGDOM OF GOD. May He shine upon you all His light, love and care.

Don't apologize for something coming out as "religious." I actually hate that word, because that just means that you do something the same way over and over again. You can be religious, and not have a relationship with God, which is what I used to do. Other than that, I LOVE this song. I am currently playing the Jesus character in the production.

@SeltzerAddict All is good - great song! I was just replying to the thread where aprilshowers495 asked "is this from godspell?" and you replied "The movie? yes. The song? no". I mistakenly took that to mean you were saying the song was in the movie but not the play. Now I understand you were saying the background video was from the movie but the song was not in the movie. I just saw Godspell the play for the first time in a college production at University of the Pacific - I loved it!

What a pretty song! How lovely it refers to "Godspell" so gently and reverentially.
I am always amazed and pleased how Y/T posters mix intent with appreciation.
:)

@SeltzerAddict No, this is not from Godspell the movie, which was released in 1973. The song was produced and first performed by singer-songwriter Sophie B. Hawkins in 1995.
