These clips work with wood and composites, you just need to goove the board. Many composites come pre-grooved.

A better mechanical attachment is a 45 degree angle, but many clip systems attach virtically as with this clip. One reason for the virtical attachment is so the clip can be easily tightened or removed if needed.

Do these only work with composite decking?

IF you use these on wood -don't you want to drill the screws at a 45 degree angle? Can this even be done with these clips?
