I have a question: I often have the problem that I don´t know when I have to use a short vowel and when a long vowel. For example Alif and Fatha.
Are there any tricks which you can use?
Please help me.

Good job sister. Though i'm an arab, but i don't think i'd be able to teach non-arabs the same way as you did. Mashallah.
May Allah bless you and strengthen your faith.

Hi, do you have to omit the two dots under Ya when you put a Hamza on top of it? thanks

yep, no dots under a yaa with a hamza...also, if you see a yaa without any dots under it at the end of a word, it's pronounced as a long alif...although sometimes not putting dots under the final yaa in a word is a stylistic thing...which you can usually figure out through context ^_^
