Salaam alaikum everyone,
this is another lesson in my "learn to write Arabic" series...I hope you all enjoy/find it useful/educational. In this lesson, insh'Allah we will go over vowel sounds as well as most of the tashkeel, or diacritical markers used in Arabic.

  • Hi, do you have to omit the two dots under Ya when you put a Hamza on top of it? thanks

  • yep, no dots under a yaa with a hamza...also, if you see a yaa without any dots under it at the end of a word, it's pronounced as a long alif...although sometimes not putting dots under the final yaa in a word is a stylistic thing...which you can usually figure out through context ^_^

  • I have a question: I often have the problem that I don´t know when I have to use a short vowel and when a long vowel. For example Alif and Fatha.

Are there any tricks which you can use?

    Please help me.
