European Legislation was brought in (or at least put forward) which puts the car driver legally at fault in an accident like that. Cycling in Bristol is lethal anyway- I've come of a ridiculous amount of times. Get well soon mate.

Oh my gosh! OUCH! Sorry to see that it happened to you but I'm glad its just bruising. Sounds like it could have been worse. I'm sure its not fun bumping into things with all that bruising :( Good luck healing!

OMG that is so scary! I bike all the time and have been lucky enough to never get hit (yet) but I'm really nervous about getting car-doored. People in cars are so oblivious! This will be my first year of cycling throughout winter (in the Midwest U.S. we get tons of snow & ice and temps sometimes as low as -30F or -34C!) & it's dark all the time when I'm riding so I'm a bit nervous. Hope everything heals up quickly & yr bike is ok!
