I am 58 years old and I just became a downhill ski fan...why...Bode Miller...I heard of him but it was like he was a rebel in the ski world...when by chance I watched a downhill skiing race on universal Sports UTube I became a convert. I don't think that these fabulous downhill skiers do it for the prize. It's more for pushing the limits on being the best for themselves. Like the commentator said "Bode just smiled ...b/c he knew he gave it the best he had..."
This is the epitome of challenging the line in this event -- the true spirit of Super Giant Slalom. "...my back is bleeding..." Classic.
