Silesia, a province in the south of Poland made up of a diverse cultural mix, has announced that it wants to be free of the state amidst the worsening economic crisis gripping the country.
@TheHosenOne Autonomy or independance. Silesia has never existed as a country before, why now? why give the 173 000 out of millions who live there control of what goes on. Silesian language has not even been recognized as so, its debatable. Autonomy is fine and a federal system would most likely benefit the whole country if following the canadian or german model
Silesians had their own coins. Self-government (Silesian Sejm) Own culture. Poles cancelled autonomy (S.A.R) (bloody) Silesian culture usurped by Poles. Silesian money was "loaned" for the reconstruction of Warsaw. Silesians was murdered in the camps for the Silesians. Language banned for a long time. Today, they dot want to give autonomy (S.A.R) They believe that Silesian not exist as langauge. There is no Silesians. Silesians are Poles. Saw true....
"Silesians are a nation", no they are not. I'm 100% Silesian and I don't want autonomy nor to join Germany. It is truth that Silesia region has been "abandoned" by the Poland after 1989 but which region of Poland isn't ?! There are regions with much higher unemployment than Silesia. Silesian coalminers are paid 4500 - 7000 polish zloty a month while Polish minimal monthly payment is 1386. Get a picture? RAS doesn't speak for all of us and Gorzelik isn't even from Silesia. How ironic.
WE are SILESIANS ! and we want autonomy because WE dont want someone in Warsaw to tell US what too do - THATS ALL ; YOU are blind because You believe in EU ;p
@miodekdj7 oh, of course. I'm sure that Silesians from, like, Opawa would agree with you. Silesia was once in Poland, then it wasn't, now it is - partly. History is not black and white nor are the people that have lived here during the centuries.
What history books would you exactly advertise to widen my knowledge of my homeland, i.e. that it was always Polish? ;)
@TheHosenOne Not sure if stupid, or just trolling...

@POLAK1Nysa
Silesians from Silesia were deported to concentration camps.
In their place, they imported the Poles.
Silesian language was banned, and was introduced to force Polonization.
The Poles took autonomy.

Silesia = Schleisen, German homeland of my family, ethnically cleansed by the Russians after World War II
