This is me playing lead on Eric Claptons "Hideaway". This is just one way to play this tune... Really love to jam with it. I hope to get better and do a remake since i can really count on one hand how many times I've played this. And this also gives me a chance to perfect the tone.

Guitar: Dillion 355 (Gibson 335 Copy) with Tonerider Classic IV. This played 100% on Bridge P/U.

Amplifier: Orange Tiny Terror w/ Orange PPC112. 7 Watt, Volume at about 10 o'clock tone at 11:30 and gain at 1:30. Picked up by a Shure SM57

  • I am thinking about getting the same set-up you have. It is quite expensive. Im wonderingif I should just get a marshall or vox combo instead. Tone wise what do you think against Marshall tube and Vox?

  • Well, if you are planing on playing clean i would not recommend the TT since i would say its cleans is complete rubbish.

I personally use Fender and Vox for that and the TT and Vox for crunch to heavier things.

If i had to only keep one of my amps it would be my Vox AC30 since it is so flexible tone wise. But it is a bit more expensive, try looking at the AC15CC. With a booster or distortion pedal in front it can even get really dirty! The circuit of the TT and AC15 is very similar!

  • Sorry to add to all your gear questions - how do you find these Tonerider humbuckers?

  • How does the Dillion compare with an Epiphone?

  • Andrew the company owner is so helpful and was very patient with me when I was deciding on the right set of pickups for my semi. I think Toneriders are the hidden gems of the pickup word and having fallen in love with the AC2s and Rocksongs (both alnico 2s) I would never consider shelling out twice or three times the money for boutique brands. Their analogue effects are killer too - I love my AD-1 analogue delay pedal! I have tried many vintage delays and this is just up there with the best!

  • reminds me more of freddie kings version than erics, great playing and a huge tone, never believed that anyone could ever replicate these tones today.

    yours,

    rex

  • Would you recommend these pickups as replacement for the stock epiphone ones?

    Also in a ES-335

  • SHIT I WANT YOUR GEAR

  • Thanks for the input.

    You kow; your right!

I just tried a TT and the clean tone sucked (or rubbish as you said) So I made my mind up to spend alot more for a AC30CC2x. I figured, mine as well get the best. Its an amp that can stay with me and my family forever.

  • What are the dimensions of the Orange PPC112?

  • Absolutely!
