I might add a caveat, though, that a lack of continual repentance may be an evidence of a lack of salvation for faith without works is dead, and that turning to God in faith is in one sense turning away from sin.

True...this is the case where was the person truly saved or just paying lip service? Sadly, many are becoming anesthetized to sin...It breaks my heart that people do not attempt to honor holiness.

Have you continually repented of the 667 sins in the bible? do u think your repetance earns you salvation or makes you any different from the believer who doesnt repent? u do realise that Jesus's sacrifice attoned for your sins? so live in the reality that you have been saved and not continually being saved!

I was not repentant when I called on Jesus and said the sinner's prayer. As I prayed to Jesus, I was seeking TRUTH and only TRUTH. He heard the desire of my heart and gave me Himself, then taught me that I was a sinner before I prayed and after, I was His, a saint, transformed by Him.

I believe "repent" is purposefully mistranslated to give the impression that a person has to be sorry before they're saved (which benefits the clergy). The word "repent" has its root in the French language--not Hebrew. You said it well when you the correct meaning is "change your mind."

I agree rependence is definately required. Not the crying out and begging for forgiveness (God said He'd prefer that we would rent our hearts and not our clothes). The Holy Spririt lets us know what we need to change (turn away from).
