  • Very cool building! I hope it is being well maintained while preserving all original building "fabric" so that it can be restored in the future. The marquee appears to be a 1950's "improvement". The original marquee that you remember was probably in need of maintenance and it was cheaper and easier to clad it aluminum.

  • Mark, I think you're 100% correct. I asked some old friends and they seem to recall an original marquee that was not aluminum sheathed. The building is very nice, and hopefully will be taken good care of by its present owners. It's a shame it isn't a department store, but with Wal-Mart, Target, and K-Mart on the outskirts of this smallish town, there's no chance something like that would ever come back. It's a shame.
