U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole's controversial ad making voters believe they were hearing her opponent, Kay HAGaN (D) saying "There is no God" could make people think back to their schooling and first introduction to politics. In 1984, Rev. Jesse Jackson ran for president, Jesse Helms (R-NC) for U.S. Senate, and David Hasselhoff starred on “Knight Rider”. Hasselhoff was born 7/17/52—11th b’day of adult’s Fred Halsted, whose “A Night At Halsted’s” has nINA HAGeN, born 3/11/55. Unrelated: 237-30-2896

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole's controversial ad making voters believe they were hearing her Democratic opponent, Kay HAGaN saying "There is no God" could make people think back to their schooling and first introduction to politics. I was a middle school student in 1984 when I was first aware of politics. Fittingly, since Dole succeeded Jesse A. Helms(241-14-4670), 1984 was notable since Helms was locked in what was then the most expensive Senate race in U.S. history vs. NC governor James B. Hunt(D)

Apparently Rick Perry has borrowed the producer of that ad for his most recent commercial.

She didn't use her voice. That from a 2002 Godless Americans speech.

If someone called me Godless I would take that as a compliment lol

We shouldn't be upset that someone was falsely accused of being an atheist, we should be outraged that being an atheist is considered a smear. The correct take on this isn't that attack ads and negative campaigning are bad, but that we shouldn't give a shit what the religious views of a candidate are as long as they leave them out of their policy making. I'm disappointed by this clip. The insinuation the being an atheist is a bad thing is the real story here.

This is worse than racism.

this kind of think is exactly why i vote against republicans. to me, voting has nothing to do with policy. it is these people who do not know how to behave like civilized human beings that inspire me to vote

I fully expected Obama to win the election and wasn't surprised to see him win swing states like Ohio and Florida. The one big surprise for me was the win of North Carolina. I think this ad might have had something to do with it. It must have really made Republicans look like scum.

Wow. You are such a nice Christian. I thought Jesus said to put on the other cheek, but you want to kick people out of their country. By the way, before you call me an atheist, I am a Christian, politically independent.
