Organist Frederick Hohman and crew from Patrick J. Murphy & Associates diagnose and restore proper wind to a 100-plus-years old Bevington pipe organ at St. James Parish in Montego Bay, Jamaica
For several years during the 1990s, Patrick J. Murphy and Associates http://www.pjmorgans.com/ made annual excursions to Jamaica in order to maintain, and in many cases, revive ailing pipe organs in the island nation. Much of the organ maintenance for Jamaican organs had been handled by English firms, but this maintenance ceased when Jamaica became an independent nation.
Additional footage on the organ restored in this video, as well as the restoration work on another organ nearby, is seen in the complete 30-minute VHS video. Detail are accessed at http://www.zarex.com/bin when one enters 9004 in the Search Box.
The quick toccata that Mr Hohman plays while testing the organ is "Tu es Petra" (Thou Art the Rock" from the Byzantine Sketches of Henri Mulet. Mr Hohman can be seen performing the entire work on another You Tube video, located at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2bN-l7tbqA

Fine demonstration of wind prostration caused by a malfunctioning blower and/or blown-out reservoir leather. Also, a nice outcome for the 19th-century British organ by Bevington as restored by Patrick Murphy of Philadelphia.

I keep watching this video over and over, your skill in playing such an instrument is inspiring, and out of all the videos on youtube of playing of
Tu est Petra, this must be the best sounding organ, despite its wind blower being tired.
