Coverage by reporter Kris Bernard and cameraman Philip Lubert of the discovery of the 1958 Hollywood film, "Wolf Dog", filmed on location in Markdale, Ontario, Canada. Known as "The Lost Movie Of Markdale", the film disappeared for almost 40 years, before being found by Jeff Wilson, former Markdale resident. (July 2006)

  • I imagine many of the people in town feel that they have forgotten the details. It would be interesting to hear recollections of the local men who interacted with Allison Hayes!

  • @Petemonster62: Oh man, that would make for some interesting anecdotage! She was a bona fide babe!

  • Did the local media make an opportunity for all the people involved to share their story?

  • @Petemonster62 The local media has always been extremely helpful and wonderful about promoting this nugget of Markdale's history. Jeff Wilson has a website devoted to the movie (Wolf Dog 1958 Movie Fan Site plus a Facebook page) and claims he's always glad to hear and share stories from anyone interested. I suppose that there are untold stories, but perhaps its because the people involved don't know how, or where to share the stories. Or maybe they have simply chosen NOT to share.

  • Agreed!

  • @Tycc66 Thanks for the update. The video you mention is a pirated copy. JEFF Wilson carefully followed all copyright laws, which included getting written permission from a film company that no longer existed. National Archives of Canada finally sold him a partial copy in 2004. In 2006, FOX Incendo Canada gave Wilson written permission to share the video exclusively through public screenings in the village, as long as any proceeds went to a charity.
