@ShuffleInLove it was because the guns werent the same as they are now. the only way to inflict casualties was to fire a huge amount of guns at them

I would hate to be one of those unlucky bastards on the snare drum @ 0:32. Somebody duck tape a bayonet to his hat or something so he can close-quarters drum-solo headbang his way out of a tight spot. At the very least they could provide him with a crash cymbal to double as a shield/discus of death or as a getaway toboggan for speedy downhill retreats.
