This half hour video documents the ongoing work of Permaculture Gurus, Geoff and Nadia Lawton, in the Dead Sea Valley. It begins with the famous original 'Greening the Desert' five minute video clip, and then continues into Part II, a 2009 update to the 2001 original.

You'll get to see and learn about the original Greening the Desert site and see some of the spin-off effects of its influence throughout Jordan, and you'll also be introduced to a new educational demonstration site that was started in 2008.

@WodeBolder . M8 got to disagree with you. As a farmers son and avid self sustainer get off your arse and go to the highlands and speak to the farmers and get their side of the story. Also see the new methods of farming re sustainability. Australian primary producers are the most efficient in the world, and are rapidly changing their work practises to a more organic/permaculture without any subsidies like in Europe/USA. With due respect u don't speak 4 all Aussies when you malign your own.

It's amazing how fast Mother Nature heals from so much inequity. By the same token it's amazing how quickly we can lose it all from inequity pushing it over the edge to the point of no return. Man is bent on pushing the limits of the edge.

@rosemacaskie yeah we are going through a similar situation in australia... in fact i think they are trialling cattle grazing in the national "protected???!!" bushlands as a "fire prevention method" .... in fact the cows are already there and it's seems like the deal has been made!! our future is never part of the bargaining..
