Lena Horne...a legend before legends became an overused word. I hope what she did on behalf of the African-American community is never forgotten. Sing with the Angels of Heaven now, Ms. Horne; God called home one of His best.

I think everyone misconstrued that Lena was white/black and native American which is an Indian decent and the mixture not only made for a beautirul person but also a beautiful voice

Rest assured you aren’t the only 14 year old that likes and liked this type of music. I learned to play the trumpet so that I could try and play this type of music. I sounds simple, it’s not. Listen carefully and try to hear the interactions of the strings, bass, brass, and the rest of the band along with Ms Horne’s vocals. Count Basie called it precision music; nothing can be out of balance. Most importantly, ENJOY the ladies voice it is something special.

When a White person has two White parents, nobody questions why they r just considered white, so why try to question a Black person who is considered Black? I've found that they only time this even matters to white ppl is when they want to lay claim to the person in question as being their own due a 'possible percentage of European blood' because the person is doing something magnificent (as meaandmyself364 said above)..pathetic

@aha00002 because she was discriminated against like any other black person. I'm trying to see why it matters what race she was. She was a wonderful performer. That should be the focus.
