Looks like that axle installed by Les Schwab was bad. They tried to tell the previous owner that the vibration he felt was from the other axle that had a torn boot. Anyone who had this on a lift could tell that the axle was bad!

  • The axle looks like its got spots of rust on it. They dont install rusty parts they install new. Most of the time when someone puts it up on a rack they dont check for the axle to be bent. It takes a lot of force to bend a inch thick peace of metal. You must have hit something pretty hard there.

  • @hellcatrider1 Car sat for a while after the axle was installed. Previous owner provided receipts for the axle change and also one that stated a vibration complaint. The vibration complaint came up in less than 400 miles after the axle change. This axle was bad right out of the box. Also a postmortem revealed that the axle shaft itself was fine but the inner CV joint had failed in several places.

  • thanks for this video.... I have a vibration in the front of my 96 Grand Prix...I'll check it out...but this looks a little on the dangerous side.....

does the axle also make a humming sound

  • @patokaman It's actually pretty safe as long as you use jack stands and keep the wheels 2" off the ground. There was a sound from the vibration, but that was just the noise of things in the car vibrating with the axle. The vibration came on under acceleration and engine braking... there was a sweet spot of about 20% throttle that didn't vibrate. After I replaced the bad axle I found out the bearing had gone bad as well. Now THAT makes noise. Have both inspected and save some money on labor!

  • Same problem with Niss California 1988.Experiencing wobbling ,a mild steering wiggles .Fixed with replacement of drive shaft bearing alone. The mechanic was honest with his evaluation. The car was lifted up .It was the passenger side wheel wobbling. We took off the tire and tested . This confirms its not the tire but the bearing. Im now able to go at speeds without the wobbling.I remebered I hitted hard a deep pothole. The problem came out after 2 weeks .Thanks for this video
