CHEN:
In the 1965 Sound of Music movie, Julie Andrews sang her way into the hearts of
the Von Trapp family. Now for around 100 Euros or 150 U.S. dollars a night,
Sound of Music lovers can now sleep in the family's former bedrooms.

STORY:
(CHILDREN SINGING "EDELWEISS")

It's no longer just the hills which are alive with the "Sound of
Music".

Fans of the cult Hollywood film can now stay the night in the original von
Trapp family villa outside Salzburg, as it opens as a hotel.

The "Sound of Music" movie, from 1965, is based on the true story
of how the aspiring nun Maria sang her way into the hearts of Baron Von Trapp
and his seven children.

Maria Von Trapp, the second-eldest of the Von Trapp children, took a trip
down memory lane.

The 94-year-old revisited her former family home for the first time since
the Von Trapps fled the Nazi regime in the late 1930s and said some things had
changed.

[Maria Von Trapp, Daughter of Baron von Trapp]:
"There used to a be door here, and a fireplace there. So it's
different, but it's still our old house."

After World War Two, a missionary bought the villa and has now agreed for
it to be opened as a hotel.

For around 100 euros or 150 U.S. dollars a night, "Sound of
Music" lovers can sleep in the family's former bedrooms - or even get
married in the chapel.

The hotel's expected to be a hit with tourists from around the globe.

Thousands of "Sound of Music" fans from North America, Asia and
Great Britain, where the film has been popular, still flock to Salzburg each
year to see the film location.

  • R.I.P. Agathe (1913-2010).

  • Maria is now the only one of the seven von Trapp children (not including the three that were born after the captain married Maria) that is still alive. Her sister Agathe passed away in December - may she rest in peace.

Would like to stay in this hotel some time!

  • I would like to make love to Leezil in that hotel...

  • wow i wanna go i'm a fan also i use to play edelweiss on the piano

  • so cool!

  • It's not correct: The Trapp Villa is used as a breakfest hotel, not as a normal hotel.

  • Rupert : 1911-1992, Werner: 1915-2007, Hedwig: 1917-1972, Johanna: 1919-1994, Martina: 1921-1951.

  • Look: The real von Trapps. Some of them are alive: Agathe (* 1913), Maria Franziska (* 1914), Rosemarie (* 1929), Eleonore (* 1931) and Johannes (* 1939).
