Luna Drives

FINALLY!!! It has happened, Steven has Luna pulling her little cart! Still some work to do, but HUGE strides for this little mare!!!!!!!!! She had been very badly abused when I bought her at a sale barn as a companion for my horse almost 4 years ago. She used to tremble and run from you at the slightest touch, you could never take her halter off or she was uncatchable, and strange noises meant she was just gone with you on your butt in the dust. She is fast for something with such short legs! Look how far she has come!!!! You can groom her and touch all over and she doesn't budge, she can live without her halter now too because she isn't afraid bad things will happen to her if you catch her, loud noises still cause fear but it is no longer a marmaduke moment, she even asks to be petted by putting her head into your lap!!! We never would have come this far without the help of Steven Duchac training her, Nancy White being her voice of comfort when that "big scary cart" is back there, and the advice of my Aunt Ginny who advised "undemanding time" where I just hung out with her for hours on end until she decided maybe not all humans are bad!!! Of course the hundreds of pounds of apple wafers, peppermints, carrots, and whole apples over the last 3 years probably didn't hurt either! ;-)
