I have to disagree with you. The film was made with complete love and appreciation for India and showed a beautiful, complex country with a lot of accuracy. - I'm from India and I was struck by how truthful the depiction is. And it shows Indians as resourceful and vibrant. There is humour and of course there are nasty characters and of course as the whole thing is set in India these characters are Indian! But so are the heroes!

The toilet scene I agree not practical.
But the fat policeman, that sure can. In fact Indian policemen are even fatter than that guy and are even more abusive.
The hindu ,muslim conflict happens often. once a few years that is.

ya she is nice looking, but ill be honest they both look like regular average indians hehe. which is great for the casting, since this movie was meant to depict reality. btw she is a former model too, graduate of bombay's prestigious st. xavier's college. well if your interested, i have a video documentary on my profile page about the 1993 bombay riots which was depicted in the movie when jamal's mother died. the movie really didnt go into too much detail about those deadly riots where 900 died.

i want to say something else too. i have met anil kapoor, who plays the game show host, prem kumar, about 11 years ago, and he is a huge star in india. and in person he is reallllly nice guy! nothing like the character he portrayed lol. and he is really fair all he said was 'come on guys lemme have some breakfast then ill talk to you guys' and he did afterwards and was realllly nice. usually bollywood stars are arrogant.
