Hendrix starts off his Woodstock set on the packed stage. Gerardo Valez on congas 2 inches away (at his first paying gig) with Billy Cox and Larry Lee at the end and Juma also on drums. Mitch Mitchell is barely visible.
Amazing - the iconic musical moment of the 1960s just one hour later.

  • This is it. Stop searching. You've found the holy grail of all YouTube videos.

  • From this footage it is evident that there was a much larger group of people at the start of Jimi's set and most of them left which isn't surprising considering the broad swath of performers who performed during the festival attracting different musical tastes and by the end of his set most of who remained were young white men and boys who are known to be drawn to heavy guitar-based music.
