  • Hello Everyone !! I'm Eddie Cohen, tenor saxophonist standing top row on this album cover between Loubert and Tuco. (white suit) I'm so happy to see Skah Shah music on youtube. And the fans of the band still strong and of course the band itself still great.......

  • This brings back my teenage years while I was learning to play bass. Skah shah music was the hardest to learn and the best too. They had great musicians on that band

  • THIS MY SONG,

  • National Treasures..........

  • Way to go Eddie!

  • this brings back my childhood and this is still banging.

  • nostalgie

  • I like this song but I must say that my favorite one is "Men Nimewo a". Great childhood memories from back home in Panama, where Kompa music (we call it HAITIANO) is forever loved and always played in any club or party (a must)

    Bless to All

  • Thank you Eddie for that, and please, let us know, where we can see you performing in the NYC area! Much love, I probably listened to this album a million times! Nostalgic indeed!

  • Thanks for your kind words. Yes, there is always going to be that #1 spot reserved for all time....for Skah Shah, the 'Orchestra of Love." Compa came into being in 1956 and flourished into the 1990's. It is a cornerstone genre of Haiti's music. During my years with Skah Shah I listened to many of the other bands too. I also loved the albums made solo by Tuco and Freres De Jean (Ton Ton Relax), Loubert CHancy, Cubano, Mario, Ti Frere, Ti Cran, etc.

Will visit NY soon to play with SKah Shah

  • @goldspout Glad to know you are doing well.. Always have been a big fan of Skah Shah... I truly love the FULL big bands from Haiti.. Tropicana, Shleu-Shleu, Septen.. etc.. We can only wish that this style of music STAYED but as a new generation comes in so does new music.. All in all.. Skah Shah will always remain one of the Best bands originated from Haiti.

  • I am so saddened to learn of the passing of a truly wonderful person and extraordinary keyboardist Jean Alcindor. He was the keyboardist when I joined Skah Shah in June of 1977. We used to practice in his basement in Queens. He made the Rhodes piano come to life adding the Skah Shah swing to the recordings he made. This was the Shah Shah in its prime. Skah Shah at its best with Jean Alcindor a key member of the team. (pictured bottom row right on the Message Album).
