Editors don't always have the luxury of working with raw files that are entirely the same. Sometimes, footage of varying formats will come in to the studio and editors are required to convert those files into a format suitable for post-production or for sharing via FTP or for upload to a website.

MPEG Streamclip from Squared5 is a video file conversion program available for a free download. In this tutorial we introduce MPEG Streamclip and provide a brief overview on how you can pull footage from a DVD, an existing video file, or even a website, and convert it into a format suitable for your particular project.

  • Can this product handle reading a dvd with television episodes on it? If so, how will it break down each show (file)?

  • Hey I've been using MPEG, and for some reason it isn't working. I keep trying to download a video and it says "You r going to load a batch of videos" so i go along with it and then after i choose a folder for it to save the video to it says it can't because it can't find any of the videos. :l help?

  • i have video .MOD i put on movie maker but hes program say Error cannont

  • SWEET!!!! I am so glad I found this video. I made the mistake of rendering the WHOLE DVD and it took up alot of space on my machine. Thank you for the video.

  • You should make 1 more. You can open up the DVD itself without having to go into the folder. You double click the DVD drive and you're given a drop down menu of the DVD chapters you can choose from. People might get confused if you skip over that part if they happen to go that route.

  • Its a shame man- as it was an awesome piece of software up until then....anyone have any ideas if Mpeg has any bugs and if so work arounds?

  • @incomestreams4life same here
