Earth Defense Force 2017 Mission 53 Inferno Difficulty

This is Mission 53 - Starship on Inferno difficulty.

Weapons: C70 Bombs and C70 Bombs

This is how I originally finished the game back in June 2009, because the ever popular dual Lysander Z didn't work for me. My armor is only 6912, so I wouldn't last long against the Mothership.

I'm using two sets of C70 bombs. If you wait until the Mothership's cannon deploys, you can fly the chopper onto the prongs sticking out of the bottom of the cannon and jump off onto one of the ledges. I got close to the edge nearest the Mothership so that the blast radius would hit it. I throw out all 20 of my bombs and jump over the side, and when far enough away, detonate the first set. This will immediately kill the cannon.

I reload the first set and then drop bombs close to the Hectors. Getting hit with their purple lasers knocks you down. During the knockdown animation you are invincible. You can still detonate your bombs though! I did this to pick up scattered health.

I watched the Mothership and when I see its glowing circular weak point, I detonate my second set of C70s. You'd think that your bombs fall out of the air because the cannon falls when you destroy it, but they don't. I exploit the physics to leave my bombs perfectly positioned (floating in the air) to destroy the Mothership.

The C70 Bomb does 12,000 damage each, doing a total of 120,000 damage, instantly killing the Mothership if they're positioned right. In comparison, the Lysander Z does 5,500 damage per hit.

*Everything about this stage is epic! The voice acting makes it very dramatic.

Do you wait until the ship is fully descended in mode 2? I can't figure out when to use the bombs during the 2nd phase.

@sterlingxblue You have to place the bombs in the same place I did in the video, so that they're close enough to the center of the ship. Yes, I did wait on purpose so that the ship would descend far enough into the blast radius.

How to up health?

@Weet1231 Pick up Armor icon drops from enemies. You start with 200 armor. Each icon gives you one point to the total. You can tell how much farming I had to do to get it up as high as it is in this video set. o_o;;

Wait until the cannon is destroyed and hits the ground. After 20 or so seconds, activate the second pair of bombs. The Mothership will descend into the blast radius in the meantime.

You have to wait until the Mothership lowers itself towards the ground before you activate the second pair of bombs. Wait about 20 seconds after the cannon is destroyed and hits the ground. You will see the Mothership gradually lower itself. After 20 or so seconds, activate.

WTF!? I do the exact same thing, all 10 bombs, and it doesn't kill the mother ship. The cannon dies, then I wait for the ship to drop a bit and blow the second 10 bombs... nothing. WTF?!
