Victoria , Texas, USA, 1963 through 1975, we once had a place where people with the desire to race would compete in a completly controlled environment within the guidelines of that time period. That was "BACK IN THE DAY" at SIX FLAGS DRAG WAY.

  • Even though I lived at SoCal dragstrips from '64 until I was drafted (Vietnam) in 1969, and love these cars ~ what is almost even more fun (for me) are all the POV's (privately owned vehicles) in these photographs. My 1st car, circa; 1964, was a '57 Chevy and there are bunches of 5-7 Chevys in these photos. Cars, back in those days, were so cool ~ each looked completely different than the other. Now days nearly every single new car looks like #1. a bubble and #2. like everyother new car.

  • WOW! Never knew Victoria was so cool at one time. Thanks for posting

  • This video shows the Shark Car from Dallas. Charlie Smith is in one of the photos with the car. How do I get copies of the photos of the Shark Car shown on the video? I may have some photos too - I'll check. However; wives didn't always get to go to the races back then. We still race nostalgia and I'm part of the team! Thanks....Patsy Smith
