Neil said "I don't recall seeing any stars" like a politician so he could not be incriminated for lying. Fact is the mont they could have traveled to would be the orbit and back but I think that would still pose a risk for America who was desperate for a solid moon landing evidence. Collins never said he never bothered. The vid was cut mid sentence and he went on to say he never saw stars from the sun side of the moon without optics. He was the command module pilot for chrisake.

The thing is there were two landings ... one on the moon and one in some studio of some sort. The live tv transmission was made of mixed feeds from earth and the moon.
There has been some clever use of images and information to give the people the truth that was allowed to be shown.
Now this is so unbelievably and cleverly done that the ones who did it are well protected against people who feel something's weird about the Apollo story ...
