From Get To The Chopper! at www.get-to-the-chopper.com...

The Lost Art of Filmmaking Series represents Get To The Chopper's attempt to highlight examples of film language that no longer seems to appear on the radar of a majority of working filmmakers.

Here's a clip from HARD BOILED, John Woo's action opus. Long takes are difficult enough to block and plan camera moves without adding gunplay and explosions. Pay attention to the stunt and special effects work... and imagine if they didn't get the shot and had to reset the whole thing.

Like a mini-class in film school, the clips and columns cover the craft intricate blocking, camera moves, and, most specifically, the uninterrupted 'long take.' For more insight into these specific clips, please go to www.get-to-the-chopper.com and take a peek at the LAOF (Lost Art of Filmmaking) archives.
