The F-35 is a waste. You can't have one bird do it all. It just doesn't work that way. The F-22 would wreck the F-35. Just my thoughts as an Ordnance Technician. The A-6 could carry some bombs like there was no tomorrow. Just my opinion.

@harrier21 Yes totally agree with you there, cannot understand the reasoning behing scrapping the Ark and the Harrier fleet, RAF lobbying to save Tornado? Think the reason the QE class are now to be built with cats etc is to make them more tempting to a buyer. Sharkey Ward reckons that only the Harrier can operate in Falklands waters due to the sea state there. The Harrier story is like the attitude of UK gov to its defence industry, never appreciate how good it was and never invested in it.

@deathsaurer123 Fleet Air Arm has won more Air to Air victories than USN since WW2. US is ruler of the seas no doubt but all the innovations of carriers; angled deck cats and traps etc are from UK. Sadly my government no longer values it's science, innovation or military any more just the welfare state and votes. I hope the US does not go the same way.

@bondsan Before building ships of this size, it takes years of planning & coordination of new weapons systems! To do this the UK government has to produce financial aid for this to be done! Once the decision is made to build, then finances are accrued so as to pay for the ships to be built. The monies is already there! Example: u ask me to build a house, I ask that u pay a deposit/full amount> Because it is a defence matter, from another country, I ask u to pay the full amount before delivery!
