@edmontonoilers46 Much of the reason for skepticism includes the realization that much of the "Civilized World vs. the Stupid Americans" is very scripted and hypocritical. The powers behind the Western vs. Western and Western vs. Eastern scenarios are--as usual--playing dangerous politically and economically-motivated games without concern for the "little" people.

@edmontonoilers46 There is a legitimate concern (even in the U.S.) that the American corporate/political environment is corrupting World politics and distilling the cultures of the World into one homogeneous enterprise. I think that a healthy skepticism is warranted.

Authoritarian regimes come in many guises. "Stalin" was indeed a mass murderer like none the World has ever seen, and "Hitler" did more damage per capita (in re Germany's population, relative limits of resources, and relative "landlockedness" [save the U-boats]).

@WallyScag plus, i feel like lack of knowledge of history plays in their. how many people don't know who Joseph Stalin is, it astounds me! in a way, he was worse then Hitler! This stuff is important, and people are missing it. i definitely think Social Studies has fail our students in that area. heck, it's almost disproves Evolution, were not getting smarter, but dumber! lol, just a joke guys :)

@WallyScag actually, that is one of the things that irks me the most about many Americans (among other nationalities, not just blaming America) is the ignorance about the world, they don't care or want to care. putting my country aside, i think a lot of people don't understand Africa or other poor countries. to think that people don't know or care about how many people don't have clean water, or how many die because they don't have food, it's astounding!

@edmontonoilers46 Across the board, there is a problem with the educational system in the U.S.. Many Americans are very adept at what they do for a living, but don't seem to care much about the World at large. While many Americans may be vaguely aware of the affairs of many European countries, many couldn't tell you who the Hell Stephen Harper is. Most are probably unaware of the fact that Canada is the US's largest trading partner. If anyone has a right to be perplexed, it's me.

@WallyScag honestly, i don't even know if these are "real" people in the video. for all i know, they could be actors. theirs always a bunch of real stupid in every country, that always vote for people of their kind in elections :)... as for the spelling... thanks! i can proudly say, i was educated in Canada, and i desperately need a spell checker! (i honestly am good at math!)

@edmontonoilers46 Just for the record: A small handful of dizzy and unemployed beachgoers does not a sample of stupid Americans make. Most of the World may be too swayed by the propaganda of their news services to even realize that many Americans didn't even vote for Bush! Let's give those protest voters a bonus of 45-50 IQ points for not drooling in the polling booth!
-
@WallyScag i can see your point, i've had a lot of comments from a lot of people that think their God's gift to the world, and that this type of humor is totally one sided, i swear, some think that Americans are the only ones made fun of. i''m just trying to point out it's both ways.i guess i did not do a fair job of that. as for the cheap shots, sometimes i just can't resist :) cheers mate!

@edmontonoilers46 Be sure to spell "ingnorence" correctly when you are referring to someone as "ignorant." I'm sure that the well-funded Canadian educational system has done better by you. The point is, when you are from some exalted land like Canada or some European utopia, do not make the mistake of coming off like some rube yourself when you are ridiculing a nation of rubes.
Yep. It is painful to live here, too. People are so fucking stupid here they voted for W. Bush twice!
