@TZEITEL10 As i was saying,He was playing Kipps in "Half a sixpence".As he was not available i wonder why they never considered Tony Newley,another east end(of London)born star.Bert is a cockney remember and both of these men came from the right place. I admire Dick Van Dyke and beleive he was a much underused artist but he was not right for the role of Bert.He can sing and dance but ,oh cor blimey,that cockney dialect was painful. Definately not a good choice.
