is this supposed to be music?

Have an old handycam here that uses the same format.
Bit awkward to use these days though, and the battery lasts 5 mins! Must get it replaced.

sorry man, I did not understand how to connect the cables!
I have this compressor and the Mackie mixer with inserts:
Channel 1 - kick with insert channel 1 DBX to compress
Channel 2 - bass line without insert
where does the cable Sidechain insert in the hole? direct out from the bass line and have the sum with the sidechain channel dbx 1?
Thanks for the help

Been a while since I did... might help if you can leave the mixer out of the equation at first. Confusion may be that the kick/snare doing actual pumping on Trk1 & 5 can't be heard, I've duplicated them on to another track on the RS700 and that is whats being heard sent to mixer, I think. To do via mixer I think you'd still need Bass ducked on DBX before it gets to the mixer, Kick on Ch1 could come out of mixer from Aux FX sends to DBX Sidechain, Bass to DBX input out as ducked signal to mixer.
