One of the world's largest cargo aircraft overshot the runway at Gander on March 1, 2007. After some shovelling, the plane powered itself out of a couple feet of mud onto the pavement at distance of 600 feet. She was carrying a 90,000 pound generator to China. The aircraft is built for rough landings on gravel runways in remote parts of the world. I shot the video for NTV news as she was powering back on the runway.

  • russian captain + vodka = cargo late

  • @lerlo gee next thing you know they'll start blaming captains of ships when they sink. duh....

  • @batvette Pilots are the easiest people to blame. THey are always the scapegoat.

  • @lerlo Umm, the FAA has analysts that make conclusions about accidents as does the NTSB, my sister is one. They weren't there. They weren't in the plane. They do judge. The point is that they said the pilot was skillful at handling the "situation" but more often than not such "situations" are because of a misjudgement about things like how much cargo was placed on the plane, the weather/conditions at the time of operation, is the runway long enough to be on at all. The pilot is responsible.

  • @batvette Were you there? Were you in the plane? Dont be too quick to judge.

  • @Adragil I agree.

  • @LordNadir1 it's soviet if u wanna get specific

  • Don't drink vodka on the job....
