Brian Chee of Autobytel.com and Chris Wardlaw of Autosite.com discuss the battle for roadster supremecy as the 2006 Mazda MX-5 and the 2006 Pontiac Solstice are both set to hit the road this fall. Will the performance of the 2006 Mazda MX-5 match up to the style of the 2006 Pontiac Solstice, what do you think?
300+ pounds akin to carrying around Star Jones everywhere you go ... haha

im rooting for the guy in the black jacket..the guy in the brown cares to much on the style of the cars..its retatarded..driving enthusiest want both style and performance..and thats what the miata offers..plus its still cheaper and better, to my opinion compared to the two GM cars

@pg88corfu I think you should just do a test run in both cars. The handling of the GT isn't all that bad, and it does feel pretty fast, but first gear is so short, that you really can't use the power of the engine off the line. Also, the interior is very plastic, and as stated, there is no boot space whatsoever, so going on a trip with 2 people: forget it.
I've never driven an MX-5 / Miata, so I can't compare, but I find it a little girly. The latest version is better though. Good luck!

@KryzMasta totally right and agreed with your point of view!!! i am considering buying either the gt or the miata and the only problem i face when it comes to choose is the rolling accelerations...opel with 36 kgm(2500-5000) of torque seems much faster than the miata's 19 kgm but if you look at the weight of those cars you realize there's no big difference at all.with 300 kg more the opel is much more slower than the numbers say...
And here is where i need your suggestion since u drove the gt!

@dustziggy Fat and lazy? You clearly know as much about me as you do about American cars. Or American sofas come to that. Why would anybody who thinks the Miata is a p.o.s. be a couch potato? I'm sorry that driving one has turned you defensive . Not that I don't sympathise, mind. If I had to drive one I'd probably be twice as touchy.

@stinkistiltkin Its not about looking good...its about having fun driving this fun car. If your fat, lazy, can't be bothered shifting your own gears and used to driving around an American sofa on wheels your not gonna understand

Miata is a squat, ugly underpowered little runt. With uncomfortable seats, clearly designed for lady drivers and short trips, the ride is uncomfortable as hell, you'd rather drive a Mini cabriolet. Why anybody thinks they look good in one is amazing.

@cobralover88 How's that going for you? I'm thinking of buying one.

I drove the Opel GT for a week, which is the Opel version of the Saturn Sky, and the guy on the left was right on the money with most of his doubts: the performance isn't all that bad, but the 5-speed gearbox is not good enough for this kind of car, and the bootspace is virtually non-existant. I didn't mind the roof was manual, but why is it so heavy with so little inside?
I'm not an MX-5 fan (too girly), but as far as roadsters go, this car is unbeaten for two decades now.
