Our government spends $50,000 per second, we are 16.6 trillion dollars in debt, and we have the largest national deficit of any country in the world. Yet for some reason, people are opposed to cutting 85 billion from the mountain of debt we are in? If we continue spending at this rate, we are headed towards a path for economic destruction. The fact that the sequester just lowers the rate of spending (not actually reducing spending) and yet people are so upset about it is disturbing

I don't agree with a flat percentage tax though. That would mean buying power would be much greater for the rich than for lower income levels. For example, If a person pays $800 a month for rent, they will have much more left over if they make $50-$100,000 a year than if they make minimum wage. Proportionately, a person's tax burden would be much greater.

But this 2% cut is driving the congress to a deadlock. Imagine if the cuts actually needed were implemented? Congress is holding us hostage. And the cuts they do make are to teachers, nuclear waste clean up, illegal immigrants detention, and other cuts that HURT THE MIDDLE CLASS.
