@peoniesfleur there is an actual research on how Insulin increase IGF-1 hormones, which speed up aging. Yea, you could build bigger muscles wit high Insulin by eating carbs. but after i saw the Study on TED.com this Mercola is spot on. High insulin will increase aging, Low Insulin when you get in fasting, will make you look younger. Google it GUYS: Aging IGF-1, cindy. Id go even further then the vid and say a Low Carb diet will rejuvenate even further! Benefit!

I have been fasting for 38 hours. (Water fasting) I have also been hiking rigorously without eating food. I have experienced no adverse effects. I think that I am going to be water fasting again, since I broke my fast this morning and I want to continue. I listen to what my body is saying. This is good information. Unfortunately, people are pressing the dislike button probably because he says to skip breakfast. I think it is worth testing out.

this is why i love youtube more than any other entertainment media. i can listen to PhDs and MDs all day and become wiser and stronger. Thank you, sir!
The main proponent of Intermittent Fasting in the fitness community at the moment is 'Lean Gains' blogger Martin Berkhan. He recommends supplementing with roughly 10g of BCAA prior to a workout - instead of doing it in a completely fasted state. This would equate to roughly 35-40 calories so it does little to 'break the fast' considering that exercise (weight training specifically) is about to be undertaken. Thoughts on this?

@c0n0rH3aN3y Do NOT recommend isolated amino acid supplements. Far healthier to use whole foods or whole food whey concentrates which are loaded in BCAAs.

@kb826062871 Two scoops for every serving. Ideally 30 minutes after your workout. Can repeat again in 1-4 hours

Hey Dr. Mercola, after a Peak 8 exercise is it alright to drink a quality whey protein powder with raw milk. My roommate doesn't seem to think so because the natural sugar (however minimal) found in both the raw milk and the whey protein will halt HGH production and fat burning. What do you think?
jpbludeau 10 months ago
@jpbludeau If you are doing Peak 8 properly and getting your heart rate up to 200-your age you will NOT be hungry so this is a moot question. Biochemically it would be fine to have the protein 20 to 90 minutes after the workout. However would NOT use the raw milk as it will impair the absorption time of the protein.
