I think the stickers look darker because they are on a black cube. It's a trick your eyes play on you. A color near a white color will look brighter than it actually is.

your DIY is looser thn the rubiks brand if you tighten the DIY it will feel exactly the same

He said it was an old Type B.. Type Bs have a reputation for not tightening very much by hand and have to be torqued in with a drill..
