Hello everyone, this video will compare RIFT and WOW. It is in essence a review of RIFT through the perspective of a wow gamer. Many of you have probably heard a little bit about RIFT, it's a new mmo, and it's very similar to wow.
Ok so you might ask me how can I be objective about RIFT with a website name such as love2playwow, you make guides for wow, you would have no interest in saying good things about RIFT.
Well that's not quite true, RIFT is actually a good thing for me and in fact it's a good thing for wow players. Why? Because for the 1st time there is a real mmo out there that is a valid powerful competitor to wow. From this competition between the two games the ones that have something to win is us, the players, both the wow and the rift players, I'm quite happy about that. And, in essence, even though I might loose some of my viewers to RIFT from making this video I thought it would only be justified to show for the curious spirit what RIFT is all about. One thing about rift is that they don't give out a 10 day free trial like wow does, you can't find out how the game is before you actually pay for it, that's just a shame.
Perhaps the RIFT management thinks this is the best way to get more players in for the long run, or they don't want to risk players just playing for 10 days and then going back to wow... I donno, maybe they will have a trial in the future. They did have sort of a 2 day trial based on an event.
I can't describe the entire Rift universe in one video, but I will try to talk about the most important aspects. Rift follows a fairly standard pattern to the mmorpg. You have a character, you do quests you gain levels. You engage in various pve activities such as dungeons or raids, you engage in pvp fights by joining a battleground, or a warfront as they call it.
The skills and abilities are very similar to wow, for example this is a warrior charge in wow. Fast and furious as I like it. This is a warrior doing some charges in rift. I personally like the wow charge better because it's faster, the Rift one seems slower somehow, like I'm not going through the air fast enough. I'm also doing some side charges here just because I think they look cool, a side charge is just like a normal charge except you are facing sideways in midair! This confuses the poor mob that you are trying to kill, leaving him helpless to your attacks.
A thing about warriors in rift is that they use energy instead of rage, or focus if you will, like hunters and rogues in wow. They also gain a type of combo points, like a rogue would, these little swords, 3 of them, and they are on yourself instead of the enemy. You use these for various more powerful abilities.

  • This video will compare Rift... and Woah.

    LOLwut?

  • maby ask sam1 that can talk eng to do the talking next time??

  • As for discussing about what new features/systems to bring into WoW, that would require the community to not have an absurd aversion to change.

  • Rift's graphics look similar to WAR's, actually. That midpoint between realistic and cartoonish.

  • I love how a lot of people complain about how he speaks english, while a lot of the americans who complain can't even speak a second language themselves.

  • In Soviet Russia wow gamer plays rift

  • @zuuemudz It's mana on Mages and Warriors have power or rage.. Can't remember. Energy is for Rogues and Clerics use mana too

  • This is either a lie, an idiot, or an outdated comment. I loved the trial, and I'm a past WOW player. I've done a lot of research, but I had to see for myself. I loved Rift...althought its a clear plagurization...it's simply a "fixed wow." It's seamless...I love it. The only bad thing I have to say about it is the hour waits for instances.

  • actually there is now a 7-day free trial you can get for rift, this vid is out of date.

  • so they swap rage on Mages and Energy on Warriors and hope no one would notice ? im sorry but that doesnt sounds like originality.
