Actually, GeneralOne, if your motor filter is a white cotton-like pad, that IS Panasonic's HEPA filter for this series. Or at least what they consider a HEPA filter....seems like they didn't want to make changes to a proven design. However, if they are smart, they would change it, as you can buy a Riccar Vibrance for about $400 CDN that does have a proper HEPA filter, and they look & perform similar to these Panasonics. The HEPA bags only came out about 3-4 years ago.

Very nice Panasonic there, GeneralOne. I found one of these Panasonic Performance Plus Platinum's too, ditched at the side of the road. Mine is from 2000, gray, & with the tools & Quickdraw hose, but has a 2 brush brushroll. Only thing wrong was the belt had come off & needed put back on. Just so you know, those Panasonic HEPA bags are also available in a generic version. Johnnyvac sells them thru vac shops for 3@$5.99. So just go to a vac shop that deals with Johnnyvac to get them.

@robwalton2007 Thanks for the info! So it uses HEPA bags, instead of having a HEPA motor filter on it. Was wondering about that since the filter in there is definitely NOT a HEPA.
