SAMSA II - Advanced hexapod robot by Pablo Gindel & Jorge Visca.

18 Dynamixel AX12 digital servos.
7mm diameter steel backbone.
'Bioloid' legs with purpose built shock absorbers.
11.1V / 730mAh (20C) Li-Poly battery.
Arduino Mega 1280 controller with custom C++ code.
Mobile sensor head with its own microcontroller and servos.
RGB 8x8 matrix LED display (with custom PWM firmware).
Can be operated fully from a IR remote control.
3 degrees of freedom per leg.
Inverse kinematics.
Selects the best gait automatically, depending on the speed and step length.
"complex" gaits.
Walk sideways, diagonally, etc.
Walk along a curve with arbitrary center.
Full 3D body motion.
Walk with an arbitrary body position.
