NOTE: ONLY TESTED ON WINDOWS 7! MAKE SURE YOU'RE USING A VISTA THEME IF YOU'RE DOING THIS ON VISTA!

This is a comprehensive tutorial covering the installation of custom Windows 7 Visual Styles. This should work similar if not the same on Windows Vista. Also covered is how to replace your explorer.exe, which is what's needed to change the start icon, how to change icons on your taskbar, install and configuring Rainmeter along with Essential Bar. I also show you a great website to get custom wallpapers from, wallbase.cc.

OTHER WAYS TO REPLACE EXPLORER.EXE:
For the people that need more permission to change explorer to explorer.old. Right click on explorer, Properties, select the Security tab, under Group or user names, select Users ([Your Account Name]\Users), click Edit, then select Users ([Your Account]\Users) again and under Permission for Users check Allow for Full Control (First option), Click apply, then Ok, under the Security tab again, click Advanced, under the Owner tab, click Edit, select [Your Account], click Apply & Ok to everything

  • i works, i copy all things again and it works, i just want to know how to change that taskbar to black , to look like this on video, i installed steel orb, but taskbar not look like this on video . TNX

  • after changing all files and restart, my computer wont start, i used startup repair to back it in function, it says windows explorer miss , something like that

  • @JonatanGFX open some folder for example documents and go; organise>>folder and search options>>view tab>>uncheck Hide extensions for known file types

  • how do i go back to the old windows 7 theme?

  • I have a huge problem. My explorer.exe isn't really explorer.exe . It only says Explorer

And when I change it to Explorer.old and replace it, my whole bar (on the bottom of my screen) goes black, and I can not see my desktop, or anything except the windows I already have open. I've done a System Restore, and tried it over again, with the same result. I even tried changing it to Explorer.exe.old instead of just Explorer.old, didn't work.

    Any ideas?
